Wonder Woman - Anschluss 77' (1977)
It is now the present day (1977) & Diana Prince, along with Steve are now members of a special organisation sent to investigate the threat of the rise of the Fourth Reich in a small, South American republic. What they encounter is not only a Nazi base but something much more sinister..............
This is my blog part & I've got fab memories of this particular episode, rerun as it was. Don't quote me on this, but I'm sure this one was aired on Easter weekend on BBC 1. I was but a mere brat. Some aspects of this one left lasting impressions on me. Wonder Woman is some 27,2500 give or take a decade years old? She's out - ages a certain Time-lord, yet, is still beautiful in more ways than one. Princess Di (our heroine) allows herself to be kidnapped by Nazi, plain-clothed thugs for obvious reasons, whilst Steve goes undercover as one of them.
This one truly caught my Imagination as said brat. I had no idea about season one, Nazi episode after Nazi episode. That must have been annoying to the average Wonder Woman fan just as Highlander : Season two's preoccupation with The Watcher's must have been to Highlander fan's, c'ept this one. Wonder gets to beat the crap outta a Nazi tank & of course we learn that the Fourth Reich have studied the lizards ability to grow itself another tail once one is lost, thus one must wonder why, LOL! It doesn't take us long to learn why, Scary-mode alert. All those horrible experiments they've been conducting have turned up a terrible result. Dr Stern has created a cloning machine & surely I need not tell you who they clone? Right?
Clone Hitler shouts his demands to his Fourth Reich about conquering the World. Surely they have not the resources to do so? I ask that just as Wonder Woman does. Either way, a mad man wanted to tear The World apart & he wants to do so again, bigtime! All it takes is Wonder Woman's truth braclet to make the Nazi scientist destroy Hitler, which happens to beg the question is she any better? Wonder Woman justifies killing Hitler during his next regeneration in that machine. Maybe, millions of more lives have been saved, yet, surely, he could have been taken alive & tried as a war criminal?! Of course, he would have been executed, Nuremburg style, anyway? Does democracy mean anything to anybody? Yes, he would've probably been executed anyway..(?)
This ended the Nazis villains & we're treated to spies. common criminals., super villain's. But more importantly to this Wonder Woman lover, lots of alien invasion attempts! I've downloaded the Wonder Women Movie ala Amazon to keep forever. And I desperately want to see Wonder Woman 1984. All these super-hero movies are to bore me.
THIS is the exception to this West-Coast rule that we are honoured to see her sing in an episode. Eagles eat your hearts out!
